A search for custom curtains mostly turns up online configurators or ready-made panels. You enter a width, pick a colour, and the site ships you a standard panel sewn hundreds of kilometres away. Custom curtain making at the atelier starts from your window, not a template: I take your measurements in your home, I choose the fabric with you in your room's own light, and I sew every panel at my Sherbrooke atelier. The price of custom curtains depends on three things: the fabric chosen, the window's dimensions, and the pleat style. There is no fixed rate, because a wave pleat in heavy linen and a blackout panel in cotton use neither the same fabric nor the same sewing time. The first 30 minutes of consultation are free, and if your project goes ahead the whole first hour is free; beyond that, consultation time is billed at $20 per 30-minute block, which is $40 an hour, no tax. I take the measurements myself during the in-home consultation, in front of your windows and in the room's real light. It is never the final measurement: that one, I always take myself before cutting.

An order follows four steps: an in-home consultation, free for the first 30 minutes, with measurements and fabric samples in your room's light; choosing the fabric and pleat with a detailed quote within 48 hours; handcrafting at my Sherbrooke atelier over one to three weeks; then accompanied installation. The pleat changes a curtain's look as much as the fabric does. Pinch pleat, flat pleat, wave, goblet pleat: each falls differently and suits a different kind of window. I make the textile, not the hardware. Rods, rails, and suspension systems stay with you or your installer: I tell you what to buy and make sure my curtain fits it, but I neither supply nor install that hardware. I also don't sell ready-made curtains: that isn't my trade. What I do offer is repair, alteration, shortening, and lengthening of existing curtains and bedding: the detail is on the repair page.

My atelier is in Sherbrooke, and I travel for residential window treatments within about a 100 km radius for the in-home consultation: west toward Magog, Orford, Eastman, Bromont, and Sutton, south toward North Hatley, Coaticook, and Stanstead, east toward East Angus, Cookshire-Eaton, and as far as Lac-Mégantic. For a large project, like a chalet or a full residence, I travel further when needed.
