Bedroom Window Treatments

Blackout curtains and custom window treatments for bedrooms. Artisan-crafted in Sherbrooke: linen, velvet, blackout lining for perfect sleep.

Blackout curtains and privacy for the bedroom

The bedroom is your sanctuary, so window treatments must promote rest and create a soothing atmosphere. At Rideaux Nalia, we craft custom curtains with blackout lining that completely block light, ideal for night workers, children's rooms, or simply for sleeping in.

We offer solutions tailored to every bedroom style: luxurious velvet curtains for a cozy ambiance, natural linen with blackout lining for a clean look, or layered sheers for filtering morning light. Every treatment is handcrafted in our Sherbrooke atelier, with meticulous attention to finishing details.

For chalets in Magog and across Estrie, we create coordinated curtain-bedding sets that unify your master bedroom decor. Our artisan couturière works with you to select the fabrics, colors, and pleats that harmonize perfectly with your space. From hand sketches to final confection: a complete, personalized service.

Real darkness comes from the mounting, not the fabric

This is the most common disappointment. Curtains sold as blackout go up, and there is still light. Not through the fabric: around the edges, over the top, sometimes underneath. The fabric may well have been opaque. The installation was not.

Genuine darkness needs fabric extending well past the frame on both sides, a high mount to kill the gap above, and ideally a return to the wall at each end. That return is the difference between a dark bedroom and a black one.

What changes a night's sleep

  • A blackout lining hung with ease, so face and lining can move independently.
  • An overlap of at least 15 centimetres past the frame on each side.
  • A weighted hem, so the panel stays put instead of letting light in underneath.
  • The layered pair: sheer by day for privacy, blackout at night.

Noise, which is often the real request

Many people who ask for blackout curtains in a bedroom are actually after quiet. A heavy, full curtain damps sound reflections in the room and softens some street noise. It does not replace a soundproof window, but the effect is real and it is felt most at night.

If noise is the main problem, say so. Fabric and fullness are chosen differently. See the acoustic curtains page.

A great night's sleep starts with window treatments designed for you.
