The cost of custom curtains depends on the fabric you choose, the window dimensions, and the pleat style. Every project is unique, so we provide a detailed, transparent quote within 48 hours of the consultation. The first 30 minutes of consultation are free, with no obligation. If your project goes ahead, the whole first hour is free. Beyond that, consultation and measuring time is billed at $20 per 30-minute block, which is $40 an hour, no tax.
Custom confection usually takes 1 to 3 weeks once the quote is approved and the fabric is selected. More complex projects, such as large bay windows or coordinated curtain and bedding sets, can take a little longer. We give you a precise timeline from the very start.

Custom curtains are made to the exact dimensions of your windows, with the fabric, lining, and pleat you choose. Unlike big-box store models, they hang perfectly, last for years, and reflect your style. You work directly with the couturière, from the sketch to installation guidance.
A sheer is a light, translucent fabric that filters daylight and preserves your privacy without darkening the room. A curtain is more opaque, frames the window, and can block light depending on the lining you choose. Many of our clients across Estrie layer the two: a custom sheer for the day, a curtain for the evening. We craft both in our atelier.
We craft several pleat styles: the classic Flemish pinch pleat, the clean flat pleat, the modern wave pleat, the elegant goblet pleat, the pencil pleat, and grommets. Each style changes the look and drape of the curtain. During the consultation, we help you choose the one that suits your room.
Wave pleat creates smooth, continuous undulations across the full width of the curtain. It is one of the most sought-after styles today for its clean, modern look. It requires specific track hardware and a fabric with body. Nalia masters this technique for a flawless drape.
We work with a wide selection of quality fabrics: natural linen, velvet, sheers, cotton, and technical textiles. The right choice depends on the effect you want, the room's light, and the upkeep you prefer. We bring samples to the consultation so you can see them in your own light.
We craft custom fabric Roman shades, hand-sewn in our Sherbrooke atelier. Our trade is sewing: we work with linen, velvet, and sheers to dress your window. We do not install horizontal or venetian blinds, or off-the-shelf roller shades from big-box stores. If you are looking for a fabric shade that coordinates with your curtains, that is exactly what we create. The lifting mechanism, cordless, cord or chain, we order for your shade; you have nothing to buy. One shade runs up to 5 feet wide; past that, two sit side by side. Absolutely. Bay windows, arched windows, and half-moons call for particular expertise. We take templates directly from your window and use custom curved tracks to follow the shape. The result respects the architecture of your window instead of hiding it.
Yes. Lined curtains, especially with a thermal lining, reduce heat loss through windows during the Quebec winter. Velvet and heavy linen offer excellent insulation. It is a solution that is both comfortable and elegant, keeping your rooms warmer and cutting down on cold drafts near the glass.
Yes. We craft acoustic curtains in heavy velvet and acoustic wool to soften noise and improve sound comfort. They suit home theatres, listening rooms, offices, and restaurants. Generous pleats increase the absorption surface and reduce reverberation in the room.
Care depends on the fabric. Many of our curtains are dry-cleaned to preserve the drape and colour, while certain treated linens and cottons can be washed at home. We also offer a cleaning and pressing service. You receive clear care recommendations when your project is delivered.
Yes. We offer repairs, alterations, shortening, and lengthening of curtains and bedding. Whether your curtains were bought elsewhere or made by us, we bring the pieces you love back to life. Bring us your project and we will assess together what can be done.
Every project is made by Nalia, an artisan couturière in Sherbrooke since 1997. You work directly with her, from the first consultation to installation guidance, with no middleman and no subcontracting. Rideaux Nalia is a sewing atelier for window treatments, not a store or a chain. It is that direct contact with the artisan that shows in the result.

Yes. We craft custom flame-retardant curtains for restaurants, community halls, offices, and establishments that must meet fire-safety codes. We work with treated or certified fabrics according to your project's requirements. Share your specifications and we will propose a compliant solution without sacrificing aesthetics.

Replacing a sun-damaged lining on a panel whose face fabric is intact costs a fraction of a new pair, and it is often the only way to keep a fabric that is no longer made. I also do length alterations and repairs on pieces bought elsewhere. On the camper and RV side, the windows are never standard and the work is done to an eighth of an inch, around cranks and curved walls. Yes. Cushion covers, on their own or with a curtain order, sink skirts and cabinet curtains, valances, canopy bed curtains and fabric room dividers come out of the same atelier as the curtains. Each piece has its own making rule, and the hardware side, board, frame or track, stays yours.
